01
ABOUT THE PRACTICE

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, CAREFUL DESIGN

Design grounded in how buildings are made.

J.C. Robinson is a small, independent architectural design and building surveying practice based near Harrogate. Every commission is led by James Robinson, a Chartered Building Surveyor.

We work across North Yorkshire on homes, rural buildings, heritage properties and selected commercial projects—with a focus on clear advice, accurate information and designs that respond to their setting.

OUR APPROACH

A CLEAR ROUTE THROUGH A COMPLEX PROCESS

Good decisions, made at the right time.

01

Listen & investigate

We establish the brief, survey the site and identify practical, technical and planning constraints.
02

Design & test

Options are explored in two and three dimensions so scale, layout and construction decisions are understood early.
03

Coordinate & explain

We bring together the right information and explain decisions in straightforward language.
04

Follow through

Where appointed, we remain involved through tendering and construction to review progress and protect design intent.
